Friday - Day 138 - mini-mini adventure

I decided on a whim to take advantage of my Seaworld passes and take the boys on a mini adventure.  John was out of town, so I was thinking it would be a good way to bond with the boys.

The weather was perfect when I left the campground.  I was optimistic we would spend the entire day there into the evening.  Both boys were super sweet in the car and napped for a while.

When we arrived, James could not wait to get a map, find the places he wanted to go and head in the right direction.  I had to explain to him we couldn't go on all the rides, only the ones Ty could go on or the rides he could ride by himself.  He understood and was very accommodating for a five year old.

We headed straight for the Antarctica ride, mainly because we didn't have time to wait on line the last time we were at the park.  We waited about an hour, although the sign indicated two.  I had a great, awesome, fun couple behind me, enjoying both boys' enthusiasm.  I suspected they were looking forward to having their own kids, and Ty and James were their new found friends, a glimmer of hope into their future.  It was sweet to watch.

We finally made it to the front of the ride and loaded into the car which would take us on an Antarctica fantasy ride.  We were forced to ride the 'Mild' ride as the 'Wild' ride was too 'big' for Ty.  Next trip we'll let dad go on this one and James and I will take the 'Wild' ride (wink, wink, to Dad)

It was definitely a fun experience for both boys, the ride ended in a freezer of penguins.  Now, I knew why it smelled of fish when we first boarded the ride.  Those little birds had no idea they were pulled from their natural habitat.  The staff who helped us off the ride were bundled up as if there was a blizzard outside.

The penguins were fun and different, big and small, but James had no interest, he was too cold and couldn't wait to get to an exit.

We headed to the kiddy area, but everything was closed, the weather wasn't holding up well and it was beginning to rain.  Shamu's Happy Harbor was not so happy today and it was my best bet to ensure both boys had things to do.

I bought the boys ice cream, and checked the show schedule.  Shamu was about to begin, but James wasn't interested, the last time we saw Shamu we got soaked and they canceled the show first signs of lighting and thunder.

The next show was in forty-five minutes, and the sky looked like it was going to open up with fierce anger. We ultimately headed back to the car and made it back before the treacherous rain.  James was ready to go home and look for frogs.  I suppose, sometimes less is more.  We had a mini-mini adventure this day.

I am very happy we ventured out today, the luxury of owning passes; there is always a next time and you never feel like you've missed out on a thing.
